Kirsty...
I have been so blessed in this life to have been able to share much of
my time with great friends. Most of my closest friends I have known
from a young age. We share memories of our youth.
Our first experiences, first loves, first disasters and embarrasments. We have
grown together, sharing sometimes pivotal moments of our lives, and we are bonded
forever, because we truly know one another, all our failings, and all our
talents. I have great friends also that I have met as an adult, and I love that they
know me on a different level to a friendship based on youth. Some of them don't
even call me Chook, and I'm ok with that! Yes, I just said I'm ok with that!.. I've
finally got to the stage where I don't think I'm in trouble when someone calls
me Brooke (I've come a long way lately!)
But this friend, well, she's relatively new. But it feels like she's been here
forever. It is a rare thing to meet someone as an adult who is
truly on your wavelength, someone who instantly gets all those crazy
little things you say, and have been saying for years..that don't make sense
to anyone else, private jokes, innuendos, funny looks. But this girl...she gets it!
She gets me...we laugh, oh boy do we laugh. I just look at her, and I want to laugh.
(Ha!..no offence kid!) I laugh till the tears are streaming down my face, and
I should pull over, cause I could be booked for dangerous driving, kind of laughing!!
She radiates all that is beautiful in this world. I love the memories we are
creating together..of fun and laughter, road trips, and just a bit of
outrageous craziness..'cause life is too short not to throw
in a bit of outrageousness isn't it?!
She is inspiring, invigorating, funny, determined, and beautiful...
And I sure am glad she's my friend. Today I am grateful for you Kirsty.
Looking forward to the next road trip kid..where we going?!
Bless ya little cotton socks xo

All he thinks about....
Last year, after it became obvious that his grades had been going down, and he was
not performing as well and consistently as he has always previously done
in his school work, I had a chat to him asking him what was going on.
Why was he getting distracted in class and not completing tasks and
maintaining a decent level of commitment to his school work?
His answer...Mum, I can't concentrate on school work, all I ever
think about is Soccer! Spoken with such honesty and passion...
we've all got to dream about something I suppose.....

Happy 5th Birthday Finnegan...
Happy 5th Birthday Finnegan. Wow, I can't believe you are 5 and at school already.
You are such a dear little boy, always willing to have some fun and a laugh.
You are obsessed with anything technical, like computers and ipods..so much so, that
we had to get you your own ipod so you stopped harassing Logan and Summer
to use theirs! 5 years old and you have your own ipod..what a lucky boy you are!
Summer is still your best friend, the two of you are inseparable. She is such a good
playmate with you, and quite the little mother. You sleep in Summers bed and
every night I hear the two of you go off to sleep chatting away. You have finally
discovered that you like drawing and colouring in. I love finding your little drawings
all over the house. At school they want you to write your full name Finnegan
instead of just Finn. You aren't too happy about having to write extra letters on
the end of your name..Finn is good enough for you! When Aunty Nita called for
me the other day you told her all about your birthday. What presents you received
and who helped you celebrate, and then when you were done telling her,
you said 'So..what have you been up to'? Oh boy, you are the sweetest!
I love you and am very proud of the spirit you are.
xxoo
