Dr Seuss....

Who doesn't love the incredible words of Dr Seuss.  I love reading his words to my kids and sparking their imaginations..." Oh, the places you'll go...".
I thought I would share some of my favourite words from Dr Seuss

"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter, don't mind"

"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened"

"You have brains in your head, and feet in your shoes You can steer yourself  any direction you choose.  You're on your own.  And you know what you know.  And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go..."
(Oh, the Places You'll Go)

"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not"
(The Lorax) ...still cannot read The Lorax without crying!!

"So be sure when you step, step with care and great tact.  And remember that life's a great balancing act.  And will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed! (98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed)  Kid, you'll move mountains!.
(Oh, the Places You'll Go)

What is your favourite Dr Seuss book?

You Capture / Happiness....

How embarrassing, please don't look too closely.  But I couldn't not post these for Happiness.  On this day,  my teenage girl, who was moving away from home,  interstate, and who hadn't talked to me for two days previous, decided to come on a walk with me, with no prompting by me,  whatsoever.  We walked round the streets of Paddington looking at all the beautiful houses, telling each other which one was our favourite, which one we would live in, oohing & aahing over the beautiful trees & cars & people.  She let me take photos of her, with very little rolling of the eyes, she was being very accommodating. I mean she was in my presence, willingly, of her own accord. I don't think she even sent a text the whole time (!).  Then she grabbed the camera off me, and said right, come on, I'll show you how to take photographs!!,( because she does know everything, after all!).  And she took my pictures, and they are beautiful, and I will always treasure them,( I will share them another time ) but these ones are funny, because I love being silly with her, she let me, she wasn't embarrassed, and she listened to my directions about how to take moving shots, and she tried, without arguement, and she succeeded.  This is my little moment of happiness x

Sydney trip...

Ok, here comes an image overload....be prepared, grab a cuppa if you want!.  Sydney... it has been a very long time since I have been there, and my impressions as an adult are....WOW.  So much to see, the imagery is astonishing.  Everywhere you look there is art, life, colour, history, and vibrancy.  Visiting Marni & Tom in their beautiful home in Paddington, this glorious suburb where there is no line between, residence & commercial.....everything co-exists amongst each other creating an atmosphere that is electrifying and comforting at the same time.  I loved looking down all the alleyways, and finding glorious little homes, and galleries and boutiques and pubs all surprisingly, harmoniously dwelling amongst one another.   It was just beautiful.   So you can tell by now that I come from the country right?.  So our girl is now living in a big city, just what she wanted, and also very far away from home. (also what she wanted!) The first bird has flown the coup!.

This wall is about 10 metres past Marnis house, what a perfect backdrop!  Go girls....(they were terribly embarrassed!)

Marni & Toms place...Check out how old that frangipani tree would be!

Paddington markets

Love you x

Oh, the buildings......everywhere you look....

This was one of my faves

Oops, can't remember what this place was called, very cute little beach though!

Tom & Rudy

Can't wait to go back, but next time will be flying for sure.  12 hours on train = numb bum!

How embarrassing....

Standing in the grocery aisle today, Finny in the trolley, and me bending down looking at something on the bottom shelf when all of a sudden he says, "Ohhh what's that smell?", I just ignore him and keep on looking, because I can't smell anything, when he says,  as loud as all get out, "Did you fart mum?", I shoot him a glare and turn back to the aisle, when he persists in asking,  "What's that smell?, Oh yuk,  Mum, Mum, did you fart mum?",  louder than before because I was trying to ignore him. When I surface up to the trolley I can see three people all standing there, trying not to look in our direction, and pretending they can't hear him!.  The funny thing is,  I had spent the whole morning trying to teach him that he doesn't need to talk so loud to me, that I am always so close to him that he can talk a bit softer and I will still hear him, but everyone else won't have to!.  And he had been trying really hard to be a little more quiet....obviously though,  the need to find out who's farted is a question that needs volume!.  I must say though, that because he can't pronounce many consonants, Fart actually sounds like Hart.  But they still knew what he was saying!.  By the way, it wasn't me.........!! no , truly....

What a character!

You Capture - Fruit...

Sweet, delicious Strawberries, they have been so good this season, Yum.

Finny, loves his Strawberries, sometimes it's hard for the rest of us to get a look in!
When we have a town day, he will usually get a punnet to eat on the way home, or a fruit salad
from the fruit shop.

Oh, yeah,  there's that wink again !...
Happy Strawberry Days...

The wink....

The night before Summers Birthday, we were at the table having dinner, when one of the girls asked if everyone could wink with one eye and raise the other eyebrow.  So we all had a go seeing if we could do it with both eyes or just one, all looking at each other and having a little giggle, when we look over at Finn and he is sitting there trying with all his might to wink.  Head cocked to one side, partly closing one eye so he could still see if he was doing it right, and his little mouth screwed over to one side.....well, we all just cracked up...it was the funniest thing....candid camera moment (but of course camera was not in hand!).  The girls just thought it was hysterical, so once he had an audience....on it went!!.  So the next day while the girls were eating their cup cakes I asked Finny to wink for the camera.  He wouldn't do it, but all the girls were copying the way he had done it the night before.  He just sat there, wide eyed, and no encouragement would make him wink...typical, they never perform on cue....

The girls had it down pat....

But then.....a change of heart....

THE WINK!!
