You Capture - Fresh....

Swallows nest, they try every year, and every year they fail.  We had to pull this one down as it was right in the way of where we are constructing the verandah roof.  The little eggs are so adorable, and Summer was so worried about them, that I had to put it back up somewhere else just to appease her....such a little nature girl.....but they rejected the nest, and have now moved on.  She was just happy that we tried.

A boy and his dog....

I love hosing the garden in the afternoon, it's actually a part of the day that I really look forward to.  I grab a drink and off I go to contemplate life while watering the plants.......that is until these two get involved!.  Finny desperately wants to hose when he sees me doing it....the serenity comes to a complete standstill and bedlam happens!.  It's quite hilarious to watch a child with a hose, watering anything but the plants, like rocks and feet, and trying to shove the nozel into the lawn!.  And then Jed gets involved....actually,  the minute the hose is turned on,  Jed's involved...the water from the hose is his favourite toy.  He would spend ages chasing that water around, and after I finish hosing the plants I always give him a good game of water chasing.  It's a good way for him to use up some energy!.  But now, that is Finn's job.....and well let's just say that instead of enjoying my quiet time watering, I'm desperately watching to see just where that stream of water is heading and trying to avoid it!..Ah, good fun.

Patchwork quilt....

Oh, look at the wonderful little bundle I found at the Op Shop the other day....

An absolutely beautiful handmade patchwork quilt.  It looks to me like it was someones first go at patchwork.  I love all the vintage materials in it.  It has only inspired me to get off my butt, and just damn well get stuck into making one of my own!!.  So seeyas, I'm off to GOOGLE 'How to make a patchwork quilt', seriously, I have no idea where to start!!.
Found any op Shop goodness lately??.

Finally....

I finally got around to finishing Shanes 40th Birthday Collage. Never mind his birthday was way back in April!!. Of course the hardest part was deciding what photos to use. I could have made them smaller and used alot more of them, but I decided that you lose alot of the impact when you make pictures small, so I went with photos of times and with people that really mean something to Shanes life. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out, now I just have to find a place to hang it.

And catching up with the loveliest Aunties in the world!

Around Here....

So, what's been going on around here lately?.....well things have been very busy because I have finally come out of hibernation......spring has sprung and so have I!. I just cannot believe how low I get in the winter time. I suffer from S.A.D, ( seasonal affected disorder?), during winter. I just get so low. I wonder if anybody else suffers from this?. My sister thinks I'm mad that I can entertain the idea of living in Tasmania, when I can barely get through a winter here!. So there is alot of gardening going on at the moment, Shane has installed an irrigation system for me so I can stop dragging the hose all over the place. We have raised the garden beds, as they were just too shallow, and I have sprouted alot of seeds to sow, and all the mulching has been done. We have also given the chook pen two new runs, which have been planted out with ground covers, flowers, veges, and chook forage plants, and is shut off from them for the mean time, and then when it has fully grown, the chooks and I can forage to our hearts content. This had to be done, as I think they suffer as much as me in the winter time, they just have no fresh green pick, and start to get pretty desperate to enter my vege garden, which is not on!. The bower birds are still here and still eating everything in sight,(damn them!) We have had brush turkeys that made their way here for the first time, and also the crimson rosellas who seem to have moved in, and are just so beautiful to have around. It is a real sign of how dense the scrub is getting, especially after the rains of the past year. It has made such a difference to the landscape. Shane is working hard. He is in the midst of picking season, and alot of the fruit is dropping off after the unseasonal heat wave we had here a couple of weeks ago, so there are avocadoes galore at the moment as he is bringing home alot of fruit that has already dropped off the trees. Great for all our friends and family, but I just look at them and desperately wish they were apples!...Avoes do not agree with me!!. Hey, maybe that's why i want to go to tassie, apples.....Sigh...Shane could be picking apples......Um, anyway.....The kids are on holidays, and they have been having fun just hanging out with friends. Logan and two mates are camping out in the bush, I took Summer and Cleo to see the Smurfs movie, we thought it was good.

These are the cute slippers Grandma was knitting over the winter.

We had a lovely visit from the Parthenides Girls.....thanks Nits!

We spent a night in Ballina while Shane and I went trailer shopping.  Had a nice time....but didn't come home with a trailer though.....

Logan and Summer loved the spa, I have a childhood fear of them...while on holiday in Sydney once as a child, my dad started talking to the man who was cleaning the spa filter, and he called us over to have a look at what comes off the body....YUCK!, I have never been in a spa since!!.  ( I did hang my legs in though!).

And of course, it started raining as soon as we got to the beach.  Oh well, the 5 minutes we had were good!!

At least we got to pick up a some Enid Blyton from the Op Shop on the way home to add to Summers collection!!.

I hope you are all enjoying the spring also.....how are your gardens going?....
