The eyes have it.....

Well hello there.  Jeez, it seems like it's been a lifetime since I have been back to this little space of mine...I miss it, I really do.  I miss documenting all the little bits and pieces of my family life, my loves and my memories.  I must confess I have been a little preoccupied lately...OK, I'll admit it...I've been obsessed! (see, there I said it!) with my
i phone, instagram and facebook!.  Wow...that feels really good to have that out in the open!  But the thing I have missed the most since I have come into the world of high tech gadgetry, is my camera.  I mean my real camera..the one that I was determined to master before I got slightly, oh Ok, extremely, sidetracked!  I have regressed in the knowledge and confidence that I was gaining with my beloved Canon.  But.. what is the point of getting to the end of a year and the start of a new, if not to take stock of things that you want to change, and perhaps gain, as life steadily rolls on forward?  'Exactly'..(I hear you all collectively sighing)...SO, I endeavour, once again, to get back behind the real lens, and try, try, try, to find the confidence I want to have in my photography, and the commitment to being the keeper of these memories for my children and for myself.  This is my pledge for the coming year.  Now, when I falter, which I do...(I know you know that..I just said it anyway!) Can you guys please give me a good ole kick up the backside, and set me back on the right course...OK?  thanks.

My task for this little session, which she actually a little bit more than half heartedly (just a tad more!)participated in, while the wind was whipping her hair around her face, was to focus on her eyes.  Nothing else...no composition, or metering, or anything too technical, just simple eye focus.  Don't you love how you can see into someone when the
camera truly focuses into their soul?  Beautiful....

Instagram...

Oh for the love of Instagram!
I have a new hobby.   Ok, Ok, I know I have far too
many hobbies...but this will be the last one...promise!
Instagram is such a fantastic easy little program that
can make the most plain photo look like a work of art.
Seems as though my phone is constantly joined to my
body these days, I am using it very regularly to capture
those little memories, rather than grabbing and setting up
the Canon.  Of course it will never replace my adored SLR,
but I now seem to start with the phone...and then if it is
even more photo worthy...then I grab my camera.
It is fun to muck around and see how you can easliy
manipulate a shot into something pretty cool......

A lot of photo processors are now printing in instagram sizes,
and I think there is also an online site that prints your instagrams
into collage posters...I'll have to investigate that.  How cool
would it be to have a collage at the end of the year of all
your instagram pics!.  So...just like my photography
obsession...Instagram is coming along for the ride!

and if you would like to follow me on instagram, my user
name is sentimentality !

Engaged.....

Congratulations to Troy & Rebecca on their engagement.  Troy popped
the question while they were on holiday in Thailand , and they
are both over the moon !.  Their happiness is infectious, and it was a
privelege to get to do a quick shoot with them...
( even with very short notice, and shite weather)
The beauty of this couple is they know how to
have a good time together, they laugh with one another,
and at one another....I think that's pretty special...

She was so happy, she couldn't stop laughing.  It was a beautiful
sight, watching her shine....

It was worth going all that way, just for that swim!

Straddie Island Vibe Festival.....

Hi there everyone.  We are back from the our weekend away at
the Island Vibe.  It was such a fun and busy weekend, scooping gelati
and listening and dancing to someone beautiful music.
Festivals are such a great place to hang out, the vibe is always
so happy and chilled.

We got slammed at the gelati stall, and were so tired on the
Sunday, but it was good fun, and everyone is so polite, and happy
to get their gelati fix!

Koo, Kirsty and I spent three days laughing.  I had sore tummy muscles
from laughing that much, and some new catch phrases were coined...
(packin' death, it's not rocket science), ha ha

Koo multitasking....!

There was lots of love to be seen and had!

Amber at her beautiful stall 'Seed Tree'

Kirsty coped very well considering this was the first time away
from her babies!.  There was lots of talks on the phone..

And a lovely friend opened up his doors for us and we
got to spend a night in his beautiful island home, thanks Des

And now it's all over....it's such a whirlwind to the senses when you
go away and have an amazing time.  It takes a while to
come back down to reality, especially when you go from
being surrounded by people and stimulation...and then retreat back to
the quiet world that is my home in the bush.  It's hard to know
where to place your mind.  It's just been through such a contrast
from the norm.  I am going to heed the words
of the lovely Linda Rago, (straddie beach yoga) and
take the time to just be still...breathe... and open yourself to all that
is around you, the world really is a beautiful place, and I will find
my place in it.
I hope you all had a lovely weekend also x
