Doubtful Creek Anti CSG Protest Part 1

What an incredible day we had at Doubtful Creek.  I have such a mixture of emotions from the day.  It was a physical and emotional drain, but also an uplifting spiritual experience also.  To be amongst a 300 strong crowd of people all united to stand against this destructive industry is almost overwhelming at times.  Every now and then I witness a scene of such solidarity at these Non Violent Direct Actions, that I have to fight back the tears which threaten to pour out of me.  All day you can swing between spontaneous laughter, anger and frustration, singing, shouting, talking, being shoved, pushed, pulled.  It is easy to take on the emotions and energy other people are pouring out, and that in itself is exhausting.  But together, amongst friends, family and strangers, we stand united. Despite all our different ways of letting out our feelings, we are all there for the common good of our people, our water, our country.  Our beautiful Australia....

How to make fresh cherry tomato passata.....

Hey there everyone, I thought I would share with you my sisters recipe for fresh
cherry tomato passata.
This is so simple and quick and is absolutely delicious.
Step one is to grab a glass of wine and the kids,( in that order ) and get harvesting!
Just try not to eat too many of these sweet juicy little red balls of goodness
before you get them inside!

(Look at that cute little bum!)

Ok so spread them all out in a baking tray.....

Toss in smashed whole garlic cloves, heaps of olive oil, and fresh herbs
like rosemary, thyme, oregano.  Save basil till later as it tends to
cook too quick being a soft leaf herb

then place in a hot oven till hot and bubbling and you can see the tomatoes
are starting to reduce

Then place into dutch oven on stove top and add red wine, more olive oil (if you need it)
tomato paste, salt, pepper, sugar and fresh basil...heaps of it.  Let it reduce to a
consistency you like then blend it all up with a stick mixer as chunky or as smooth as you like it. eat it fresh or store in containers in freezer.  I like to let the flavours develop over night before eating. Mmmm mmmm delicious, fresh lip smackin tomato goodness!

Finnegans first day....

My last little one has gone to school.  It was a bit of an effort to get hime there today.
He wasn't overly enthusiastic and there were a few tears, but luckily they were short lived.  I think I may have buckled, and not sent him if he had of put up too much resistance.  He seems so young, but I know he is ready.  He will thrive, especially
having children his own age to play with, finally!

So 2013 sees Finnegan in Kinder.  Summer in Year 6 and School Captain.  And Logan
in Year 9.  I hope they all have a wonderful year at school, especially Finny.
I will miss him though.
What am I going to do with myself.....
