Boonoo Boonoo Falls...

After Bald Rock we headed a few kms up the road to Boonoo
Boonoo Falls, which we didn't get to last time.

The kids had fun exploring, while Shane and I rested our weary legs!
this would be a great place to visit in Summer.
When we got home Finny said he wanted to go back and do it
again!  We will Finny, for sure, we will return to this magical place again.

Bald Rock....

We had a lovely day on Sunday returning to Bald rock for a day out...
and my excuse for some much needed exercise!  It is such a visually stunning
place and the kids love it.  We walked straight up the rock to the top but came
back on the bush track which is just a delightful walk, through, under, and around
huge granite boulders that seem to be balancing on top of one another.
There are hidy holes and little caves, and amazing trees and ferns and
moss hanging on or peeking out of rock faces everywhere.
It really is a beautiful place to visit....

They were so tired by the end of the walk.
(they really did have fun, honestly!!)

Kirsty...

I have been so blessed in this life to have been able to share much of
my time with great friends.  Most of my closest friends I have known
from a young age.  We share memories of our youth.
Our first experiences, first loves, first disasters and embarrasments.  We have
grown together, sharing sometimes pivotal moments of our lives, and we are bonded
forever, because we truly know one another, all our failings, and all our
talents.  I have great friends also that I have met as an adult, and I love that they
know me on a different level to a friendship based on youth.  Some of them don't
even call me Chook, and I'm ok with that! Yes, I just said I'm ok with that!.. I've
finally got to the stage where I don't think I'm in trouble when someone calls
me Brooke (I've come a long way lately!)

But this friend, well, she's relatively new.  But it feels like she's been here
forever. It is a rare thing to meet someone as an adult who is
truly on your wavelength, someone who instantly gets all those crazy
little things you say, and have been saying for years..that don't make sense
to anyone else, private jokes, innuendos, funny looks.  But this girl...she gets it!
She gets me...we laugh, oh boy do we laugh.  I just look at her, and I want to laugh.
(Ha!..no offence kid!) I laugh till the tears are streaming down my face, and
I should pull over, cause I could be booked for dangerous driving, kind of laughing!!

She radiates all that is beautiful in this world.  I love the memories we are
creating together..of fun and laughter, road trips, and just a bit of
outrageous craziness..'cause life is too short not to throw
in a bit of outrageousness isn't it?!
She is inspiring, invigorating, funny, determined, and beautiful...

And I sure am glad she's my friend.  Today I am grateful for you Kirsty.
Looking forward to the next road trip kid..where we going?!

Bless ya little cotton socks xo

All he thinks about....

Last year, after it became obvious that his grades had been going down, and he was
not performing as well and consistently as he has always previously done
in his school work, I had a chat to him asking him what was going on.
Why was he getting distracted in class and not completing tasks and
maintaining a decent level of commitment to his school work?
His answer...Mum, I can't concentrate on school work, all I ever
think about is Soccer!  Spoken with such honesty and passion...
we've all got to dream about something I suppose.....
